When the impact of climate change becomes unavoidable, we must learn to adapt. CASD’s approach to adaptation shall involve structural, physical, social, and institutional approaches. mangrove planting and other habitat conservation; seawalls to protect against storm surge worsened by sea level rise; selective breeding for drought-resistant crops.

Mangroves and other tree planting: Mangroves are essential for tropical countries like Liberia, but they can provide the same security in any place they grow. They are trees with dense, interwoven root systems that grow along warmer coastal regions in slow-moving water. They protect coastlines from tidal waves and flooding and are natural habitats for a variety of marine life. Besides acting as a natural buffer and habitat protection for multiple ecosystems, mangroves are becoming a key part of the global climate change conversation because of their ability to sequester carbon. Our goal is to plant millions of mangrove trees along Liberia coastal belt affected by sea erosion.

We shall endeavor to plant millions of Coconuts and other trees. In addition to providing coastal defense, by planting trees locally, we will help improve the local air, help capture carbon dioxide, provide ecosystems for local wildlife, and much more. We are hoping to raise US$5 million over 10 years to plant and sustain the first 1 million trees at US$5 per tree. Please join this campaign.
